About the Maker of CanPans
Luc Dupuis
Maker - Musician - Craftsman
Crafting high-quality hanpans through precision, patience, and a deep love of sound.
Luc Dupuis is a handpan maker, musician, and craftsman based in Hamilton, Ontario. For more than a decade, he has dedicated himself to the precise and meditative art of shaping raw stainless steel into instruments with depth, resonance, and soul. Every handpan he creates is tuned, refined, and finished by hand, reflecting his commitment to quality and his deep respect for sound.
Luc’s journey began at nineteen, when he first encountered the handpan and was instantly captivated by its calming, organic voice. After discovering that wait times for a handpan stretched up to ten years, he felt compelled to try making one himself. This sparked a long and challenging exploration into metallurgy, acoustics, and craftsmanship.
Wanting to learn from the best, Luc reached out to the small handful of handpan makers working at the time. One responded. Within a month, Luc flew to California for an interview, and soon after, he began a multiyear apprenticeship. During this period, he learned the intricate foundations of shaping, hammering, and tuning steel by hand, developing the meticulous ear and patient technique that defines his work today.
Alongside his craft, Luc is a passionate multi-instrumentalist. He plays and creates didgeridoos, performs on bansuri flute, guitar, and of course handpan, blending world influences into earthy, rhythmic soundscapes.
Today, Luc is known for his humility, patience, and dedication to the craft. He believes every handpan has its own personality and voice, and he treats the creation process as a collaboration between material, sound, and intention. Whether he is shaping metal in the workshop or performing live on stage, Luc’s work is grounded in curiosity, devotion, and a lifelong love of music.
Do I Need Musical Experience to Play a CanPan?
Not at all! The CanPan is designed to be intuitive and easy to play. Because each instrument is tuned to a specific scale, there are no "wrong notes" - just natural, flowing melodies that emerge as you explore the instrument.

Refund policy
PRODUCTS: We want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase, we are happy to work with you to find the perfect item.
If for some reason you are not happy, please call us within 30 days.
If, within the 30 days, you want to exchange an item we will give you full credit towards other products. However, If you wish to do a full return, there is a 15% restocking fee. The item must be returned in the same condition you purchased it.
Shipping is at your expense. It must arrive to us in the same condition as when it was shipped out. Once we have received your returned item, and have inspected it, we will issue a a refund minus the restocking fee and any costs that we incurred to ship the instrument to you.
