How to use your Flumi
For Carbon Fibre Handle Flumies:
Hold the flumi about three finger widths down from the ball. Use a super light and fast motion to drag the ball against your gong. Adjust your grip higher or lower along the handle to change the tone.
For Wooden Handle Flumies:
To obtain the finest, refined sounds Bear recommends you gently rest the flumi in the palm of your hand and grip the shaft between your index finger and thumb very close to the ball section. The sweetest sounds happen when you play very soft and gentle. You might feel the vibration 10-30 seconds before you hear the sound. If you go too fast or use too much pressure, you can damage the mallet and the ball can fall off. If your gong is swinging, you are pressing too hard.
It is Bears belief that the gong player be in no rush to produce sounds, letting the ego go is essential! Bear sees gong playing as a kind of sound meditation benefiting not only the player but also the listener; by coaxing your gong with thoughtful, gentle and even strokes near to its centre your gong will reveal beautiful, heart-felt sounds.
How to Clean and Store your Flumi
Gently wipe the ball section with a damp micro fibre cloth.
In order keep your flumies in great shape it is essential to protect them from dust or grit particles when playing or when storing them. Bear suggests cleaning your flumi before every playing session, and recommends you store them in a padded mallet bag, or in a dedicated rigid storage box.
Manufacturer's Warranty
Every Professional Flumi carries a Six-Year Warranty against manufacturing defect; damage caused either accidentally or through improper use is not covered.
