Perfect Pitch vs Relative Pitch
To create a harmonious set of singing bowls, you need to be aware of the tunings of all your crystal singing bowls.
There are Two Types of Tuning Pitch Systems: Perfect Pitch and Relative Pitch
-
Perfect pitch 440 tuning means all notes are between -10 cents and +10 cents
- Relative Pitch means all notes are within 20 cents of each other and not within the tunings above
- 432 tuning system is the most popular of the relative pitch tuning systems in North America. It means all notes are between -41 cents and -21 cents
Bowls in this listing can help you build onto a set of not perfect pitch bowls to create a set that is in tune with itself.

How are These Crystal Bowls Different From Other Crystal Singing Bowls?
Frosted Crystal Singing Bowls – Musician Quality, Perfect Pitch
If you're searching for high-quality frosted crystal singing bowls, there are a few important things to understand before you buy.
All frosted crystal singing bowls available worldwide are manufactured in China. Despite claims you may see online, they are not made in the USA, Germany, or Nepal. These bowls are created from 99.9% pure quartz silica sand, but the raw material alone does not determine sound quality.
What truly matters is how the bowl is made — and how it is finished.
Not All Frosted Crystal Singing Bowls Are the Same
The firing temperature and the length of time a bowl is heated during production directly affect:
- How easily the bowl activates
- The clarity and purity of the tone
- The length of resonance and sustain
- The overall vibrational quality
Lower production standards can result in bowls that are difficult to play, produce inconsistent tones, or do not harmonize well with other bowls.
At The Sound Journey Store, we specialize in musician-quality frosted crystal singing bowls designed for sound healers, meditation practitioners, yoga teachers, and serious players who value clarity, resonance, and tuning accuracy.
Personally Tested, Creating Harmonious Balanced Sets
Every crystal singing bowl we ship is personally inspected and tested by Ivan before it leaves our store.
Each bowl is:
- Carefully checked for accurate pitch and tuning
- Tested for long, clear resonance
- Evaluated to ensure it blends harmoniously with other bowls
- Hand-finished by sanding the rim for smooth activation
Sanding the edge reduces friction, which means:
- The bowl activates with less effort
- The silicone wand glides smoothly and quietly
- You experience a cleaner, more stable tone
If you are building a set of crystal singing bowls, the bowls must be aligned within the same tuning system to create smooth harmonies and avoid sounding out of tune. At the Sound Journey Store, we make sure all your bowls are singing in tune with each other.
If you are looking to add to a set of bowls that you already have, we need to test the tuning of your singing bowls to ensure your purchases will sing in tune with your existing bowls. We frequently help customers who have purchased bowls elsewhere that do not sing in tune together — a frustrating and avoidable experience, but something that we can work with.
Our goal is simple: when your bowl arrives, it should feel effortless to play and beautiful to hear.
Ethically Handled, Never Wasted
Any bowl that does not meet our strict sound and quality standards is never resold. Instead, we donate these bowls to youth care programs in our local schools, where they can still bring calm and connection to young people.
When you purchase from The Sound Journey Store, you are not just buying a crystal singing bowl — you are receiving a carefully selected instrument designed to support your practice, your healing work, and your musical expression.
What Size Neoprene Liners and Bags Do I Need? How Do I Pack My Crystal Singing Bowls?
Neoprene liners are purchased to match the size of the singing bowl. If you are purchasing an 10" bowl, and plan to nest it into a 12" or larger bowl, you would purchase a 10" neoprene sleeve.
If your 10" bowl is your largest bowl, you will need to deluxe padded bag to offer the proper protection.
You can safely nest up to 3 bowls in one bag or box, but the bowls must be 2" or more in space between them. When you place your order, we will nest your bowls safely for transport.
